Being a life model can be a very rewarding experience. As a model you can participate in the arts community in a constructive way. You can boost your confidence (all bodies are fantastic to draw!) and feel comfortable in your skin. You can test your own strength and endurance. You can relax and clear your head. You get to see some very cool artistic renditions of yourself by various talented individuals. And, of course, it is a paid position. Some comments from models at Studio 201

"The summer of 2015 at I was attending an Art Show in Montebello Park. I stopped at a booth, (artist unknown) and was admiring her work, the artist asked me if I was interested in modelling. I was taken back but flattered at the same time. She explained it would be paid work however it would was nude modelling (Life Art). I said I was most definitely interested, but my mind was racing with all kind of new job jitters. Too Make a long story short, I was contacted and commenced my professional modelling career in the Fall of 2015. I recall that first night so vividly, as that I was nervous, shy & excited all at the same time. By nature I am a introvert so this was a big step for me. During my first pose, I remember looking around at the artists and realized they weren't seeing me in a sexual way but from an artistic view point; it was then I began to relax and feel more comfortable. I have modelled too many times to count and my experiences at Studio 201 have been nothing but positive. I have had the pleasure of being sketched, painted, drawn etc etc by a wide variety of artists with varying skill sets, who are always ready to provide constructive critique, suggestions and pose ideas. Their dedication to their craft never ceases to amaze me. The atmosphere in the studio is relaxed, friendly and professional.  From that first gig at 201, my modelling career has blossomed and I have gigged at many art classes all over S. Ontario; it is my 2nd career. It keeps me motivated at the gym, challenges my creative side by always thinking of new poses, studying art books and has given me a newfound sense of body confidence that I previously lacked. Modelling is more than just standing, lying or sitting there for a certain amount of time; it requires the model to create poses that are unique, with a variety angles and facial expressions which convey different moods; it isn't about having a great physical appearance, it is in a nutshell making the best of what you got!!  I highly encourage everyone reading this who is thinking of modelling but is hesitant; to just go for it. Tuck those insecurities away and challenge yourself to experience something new and exciting.....if you only do it once; you can say at least you tried. I am thankful & grateful for each and every artist who I have modelled for and getting to know them on a personal level. A big thank you to Mori for providing an awesome studio & work experience, as well as Jana who organizes the schedule and keeps everyone abreast of the latest news and events and to all the artists thank you for making me shine brightly whether in pastel, paint, pencil, charcoal etc...you are all marvelous; simply marvelous. "

What Our Clients Are Saying

"Studio 201 has been a great asset to me personally. It helps me by providing a professional milieu to draw from life each week. I'm also inspired when I look at the other artists' work. I've made good friends over the past three years through the Studio and enjoy a relaxing drink in their company at the end of each evening.
